Marco Muilwijk’s Europa for large orchestra has been elected as the winner of the Bromley Symphony Orchestra Centenary Composition Competition. The 
composition competition was held to mark the orchestra’s 100th anniversary. Five compositions, including Europa, were selected out of more than 30 entries to receive a playthrough by the orchestra so that they could familiarise themselves with the pieces. This session took place at the beginning of June. After a few weeks of nervous anticipation Europa was announced as the winner of the competition on the first of July. On Saturday the eighteenth of May 2019, the Bromley Symphony Orchestra will conclude their centenary season with Europa’s first ever performance, in a concert with Beethoven’s ninth symphony.

Marco Muilwijks Europa voor groot orkest is verkozen tot winnaar van de Bromley Symphony Orchestra Centenary Composition Competition. De compositiewedstrijd werd georganiseerd ter gelegenheid van het 100-jarig bestaan van het orkest. Vijf composities, waaronder Europa, werden uit iets meer dan 30 inzendingen geselecteerd om in een workshopachtig format doorgespeeld te worden, zodat het orkest de werken kon leren kennen. Deze workshops vonden eind mei en begin juni plaats. Na een paar spannende weken is op 1 juli bekend gemaakt dat Europa de wedstrijd heeft gewonnen. Op zaterdag 18 mei 2019 zal de Bromley Symphony Orchestra als afsluiting van het jubileumseizoen Europa in première brengen in een concert met verder Beethovens negende symfonie.

Marco Muilwijks Europa für großes Orchester wurde zum Gewinner in der Bromley Symphony Orchestra Centenary Composition Competition gewählt. Der Kompositionswettbewerb wurde zum Feiern des 100-Jubiläums des Orchesters organisiert. Eine engere Auswahl von fünf Stücken (aus mehr als 30) wurde getroffen, damit das Orchester sich mit den Kompositionen vertraut machen konnte. Eine werkstatthafte Probe fand am Anfang Juni statt. Nach einigen Wochen nervöser Erwartung wurde Europa am ersten Juli als Gewinner angekündigt. Am Samstag den 18. Mai 2019 wird der Bromley Symphony Orchestra als Abschluss ihres Jubiläums Europa uraufführen, in einem Konzert, das auch Beethovens neunte Sinfonie beinhaltet.
